It was the Wakefield Distance League season final this evening and a great time was had by all. Did I win? Not a cat’s chance but I was more than pipped at the post for the over 50s title by my darling wife! Family competitiveness aside, I am really proud of her and it’s persistence that’s the key so the title is truly deserved. I remember the first time we ran in the league around 8 years ago she won the main Women’s title even after missing the first race of the season!
As for me? Well since I have been on performance enhancing drugs (a.k.a high-strength iron supplements on prescription) I finally seem to be running better so I am really looking forward to the Great North Run at the weekend! Maybe in the next Distance League season I can take back the Over 50s title!
Finally , to even out matters I did manage to win the cake competition (after all, it is a running club)! If anyone is wondering how you make a cake that looks like a running shoe and you really want to make one, well research it on the Internet, it isn’t rocket science (but it does require a good deal of patience)!
